Vendor Q & A
Where do I park?

Our school parking lot is very small, and thus reserved for the school staff and teachers. Please allow ample time to find street parking in the neighborhood. It can get crowded!

You may use the school parking lot to unload your equipment, but you need to move your car soon after that to a parking spot on the street.

Where do I pick up my students?

Please sign in at the front desk first. You will be checking for any absent students' names there as well before you head down to the gym to wait for the rest of your kids.

What time does ASA start?

You have to be in the gym by 2:25 pm (when the bell rings) so that you can gather your students and take attendance before heading to your assigned location. The kids will have a little time to have a quick snack before ASA officially starting at 2:40 pm.

For Wednesday classes, you have to be in the gym by 1:10 pm (when the bell rings). That day, ASA officially starts at 1:25pm.

What time does ASA end?

Please refer to the Session's "Daily Schedule At a Glance" page to see your class's exact end time. You can get there by hovering on the Fall/Winter/Spring link on this page's top navigation, then click on "Daily Schedule At a Glance".

Where do parents pick up their child?

After class ends, parents are expecting it will take vendors/instructors about 5-7 mins to gather and take the students to meet them right outside the gym (covered area with basketball courts).

All parents are asked to meet you there because the doors will be locked after school.  All of the vendors will go through the gym to the basketball courts with the students and the parent will sign their child out.

LSA kids will be returned to LSA. The activity provider (not the JSIS office or PTSA) are responsible to supervise students until pickup.  Activity providers will assess charges or suspend enrollment for late pickup.

What do I need to do if an instructor is running late?

It is incredibly important that instructors are on time, for the safety of students as well as for the management and reputation of our ASA program! If an instructor is late, he/she must make voice contact (don’t rely on voicemail messages) with the JSIS office at 206-252-6080. The JSIS office will have a call list of parents who are available, trained, and authorized to oversee an ASA class until the vendor arrives. Lateness will jeopardize continued relations with JSIS ASA.

It's snowing, is there still an ASA class?

As vendors are private businesses operating on school grounds and involve students that are not dependent on school buses, policies are unaffected by the status of bus routes or whether or not school starts on time.  ASA will continue to run unless school is cancelled or closed early due to weather. Here's an overview of when we expect ASA classes to be held:

I need to cancel a class. Who do I reach out to?

If a vendor cancels a class in advance, he/she is responsible to notify ASA & the enrolled families. ASA would then ensure timely notification is provided to teachers, the JSIS office & LSA.  If notification isn’t given a day in advance, the vendor must make voice contact (don’t rely on voicemail messages) with the JSIS office at 206-252-6080 and ASA.
